Are telephoto cameras made out of solid gold or something, why did the manufacturers decide only +1000€ phones can have them

Beside the 200 mp HP1, the 8 mp and 2 mp on the Xiaomi 12T Pro is laughable. Better of with the Motorola Moto X30 Pro ( soon global release ) 200 mp HP1, 50mp and 12 mp.

George399, 18 hours agoI said headphone jack not speakers. 3.5 jack needs a high quality DAC for the sound, otherwise... more You missed the point, all smartphones that has speakers still have DACs. A DAC transforms a digital signal of 1s and 0s into an analogue and audible signal. It then requires an amp (can be built-in the chip - effectively a SoC) and speakers/headphones/buds for us to actual hear any sound. The longer the analog signal has to travel, the more it can degrade. Neither headphone amplifiers nor DAC are expensive in cost, and as mentioned there are DAC SoCs with built-in amp and they are very affordable, but the complete minijack-setup requires space in the smartphones internal volume. Hence any phone with a minijack has sacrificed something in that space. And for what? Nothing at all. TWS earphones/headphones have a very short analog path, with minimum interference, compared to wired earphones/headphones and no mechanical connection port. Even the best of smartphone DAC+amp are weak compared to a proper headphone amp for enthusiasts. In short, wireless is awesome. You have the same digital signal, there are plenty of excellent sets due to their excellent dac+amp tailored to the buds/headphones that you can use with multiple sources without them sounding different from source device to source device, unlike wired headphones connected to phone A) or B), tablet or plus computer etc. depending on hardware of the source device.

George399, 02 Sep 2022 Headphone jack need a DAC for high quality sound and that COSTS All smartphones with speakers have a DAC, without it they wouldn't be able to produce sound. Amps are cheap, but something has to be sacrificed for it and I would not choose a smaller camera sensor over a minijack, nor OIS, smaller battery or wireless charging etc. Also, I've always disliked wires on the go. Using wired headphones at home is okay. At home you can have a proper setup, no need for a headphone jack in the phone. The first smartphone I had that came with bundled wireless headset was the Motorola RAZR XT910 in 2011, and the cables was good riddance.

Anonymous, 02 Sep 2022 €860 for 8 and 2MP rear cameras., no IP , no sd, no jack, usb 2.0 ? 😂 Where did you get the price of €860 for the 12T Pro? Tentative pricing for ASEAN is starting from €502 and there will be a charger in the box

Xiaomi 12T with Dimensity 8100 Ultra will be the affordable option for most people.

Aierlan, 02 Sep 2022That's just a rumored price though. Usually Xiaomi phones are around 50% more expensive ... more 600Euroes should be max for 256GB. And these phones should not come with 128GB storage.

Grey Wolf , 22 hours agoI think that is just rumored price. The T variants usually are more affordable models (somethi... more The price of the Xiaomi 12 pro varies across Europe. For example in my home country it is 1,099 euro currently on Xiaomi's website (but they only offer 12gb 256gb). I think you have to go by launch prices though rather than current prices as subsequent launches. The cheapest variant of the Xiaomi 12 pro launched for 1,000 euro which was about 50% more than the Chinese price. Going by the same logic you would be expect it to be in the region of 650-700 for an 8gb 128gb variant. I think it might be slightly unrealistic to expect it to match the launch price of the Xiaomi 11t pro as the Euro has depreciated probably over 10% against against the Chinese rmb in that time period so the price should appreciate by at least that much and probably more given the very high levels of inflation in Europe at the moment which will add to the cost of selling it in Europe.

Anonymous, 02 Sep 2022 €860 for 8 and 2MP rear cameras., no IP , no sd, no jack, usb 2.0 ? 😂 I think that is just rumored price. The T variants usually are more affordable models (something like the FE models in Samsung). And being that in Europe, the 12 Pro cost 850-900€, I am guessing that the 12T Pro will cost similar like its predecessor (11T Pro), around 550-600€.

notafanboy, 02 Sep 2022 Why would they bring back legacy featurea such as the headphone jack? Why? 'Cause a Wired Sennheiser Earphones, Speaker Phones are alot better than any airpods or earbuds. Headphone Jack removal was a mistake. Even though I have wireless earphones, I'd rather have the option to plug a super high quality earphone or speaker.

Anonymous, 02 Sep 2022 €860 for 8 and 2MP rear cameras., no IP , no sd, no jack, usb 2.0 ? 😂 That's just a rumored price though. Usually Xiaomi phones are around 50% more expensive in Europe compared to Chinese prices although prices even differ from the official Eurpoean launch price in different European countries with prices being more expensive in some European countries (e.g. the Xiaomi 12 series was 50 euro more). However, 860 euro seems like a very high prediction as the Chinese pricing for 8gb 128gb is the equivalent of 436 euro so 860 euro is nearly double with the only apparent upgrade being the main camera sensor. Maybe they might launch with 256 gb as the base variant but even so I think 860 euro seems too high based on their usual pricing in Europe
